African Painted Dog
One of the few wild dogs found globally, they are interesting in both their coat coloration and their use of strategy during pack hunting. They are under increased pressure due to the combination of natural predators such as lions or hyenas and now humans. Cattle herders often shoot the dogs in order to protect their live stock or leave poisoned remains of a cow to kill scavengers. This new barrage makes raising puppies to adult hood increasingly rare. They are also being limited to smaller and smaller reserves leaving space between them and their rivals less room making conflicts unusually common. |
