                                      Himalayan Musk Deer

There are five different known species in the genus of Moschus. These Deer have developed a unique adaptation to living in dense forest in Southern Asia mainly in the Himalayas. They have fang like structures instead of antlers and have a special muscle that wraps around the front of the tooth that allows males to move the fangs during courtship displays. The Musk Deer is aptly named for it has a musk gland that is appealing to humans and because of this people hunt them for perfume ingredients.  As well as habitat loss.
